Margo Barbee grew up in Savannah, Georgia. She received her education in the Chatham County Public School System and later received both a Bachelor of Social Work Administration and Master of Social Work Administration from Savannah State University.

Her employment and life experiences has afforded her the opportunity to remain a contributing community member of the great city of Port Wentworth. She continues to serve communities by volunteering for community service projects as a member of the Port Wentworth Chamber of Commerce. Margo worked hand-in-hand with local and national business/agencies such as AmeriCorps and Step-Up Savannah that services communities to help eradicate poverty and injustices. While working with diverse developers and management companies that provide much needed housing for working families and individuals, she was able to transition many clients to employment, they were able to attain educational goals or even become entrepreneurs. She also worked with Housing and Urban Development (HUD) funded homeless agencies in Savannah and Atlanta, Georgia.


As a Case Manager and Administrator, Margo networked with many community partners designed to help improve lives of the citizens, in the arena of Mental Health, Workforce Development and Affordable Housing. Her clientele included working with military families and Individuals, and Immigrants. Providing Case Management, Mental Health services and Administrative talents, afforded Margo the opportunit

  • Affordable Housing in terms of access and quality of dwellings
  • Improved infrastructure, such as improved traffic conditions along state hwy 21 and hwy 30 corridors between Savannah to Rincon Georgia
Access to affordable housing and quality of life for all Georgians; Increased safety measured for citizens, particularly schools; Expansion of health benefits for Behavioral Health, Uninsured Women and Uninsured Veterans (including spouses). I support and advocate the creation of policy that closes the coverage gap and provide health insurance to all Georgians
