I have been an engaged and active community member of the Northside and 3rd District for 2 decades. I understand what it means to be a part of and have a relationship with this community. My plan will address some of the challenges that I myself experience as well as the concerns that I have heard while spending time talking with and listening to community members. Concerns such as; safe & fully funded schools, affordable housing, fiscal responsibility & transparency, transportation infrastructure & safety, and my personal favorite, community engagement & accountability.
  • Community - I want you to know that, as your representative, I will be active and engaged both with the city and with you. I will ask questions, insist on answers, I will be in City Hall, talking to those dedicated employees. I will expect the mayor to engage frequently – every month – with City Council and I will bring all of that back to you.
  • Connection - I will host regular monthly meetings; I will attend meetings held by our SB rep and I will attend community association meetings to answer questions and report back. I will respond to every email and call. And I plan to host regular open house hours where residents can come and ask me questions, express concerns, offer ideas.
  • Compassion - We have plenty of real issues here in Richmond. Difficult intractable issues such as the state of our schools, the dilapidated infrastructure, high taxes and lack of affordable housing accompanied by displacement of longtime residents. Those are difficult thorny issues I am prepared to tackle from Day 1. But what should not be difficult and what I will be doing from Day 1 is communicating with you, listening & learning and reporting back. My job is to represent you and to do that well, I need to be listening to you, hearing from you and have compassion for your needs. We all deserve safe streets, affordable housing, an accessible & functional city hall, and I am excited to work on that for this community.
Safe & fully funded schools, affordable housing, fiscal responsibility & transparency, transportation infrastructure & safety, and my personal favorite, community engagement & accountability.
I am a coalition builder and connector. I will bring people together to do the work that needs to be done.
Listening to community members and addressing concerns such as; affordable housing, fiscal responsibility & transparency, transportation infrastructure & safety, and community engagement & accountability. Our main role is budget and policy. I believe that to effectively oversee the budget and create policy that is a guidepost for the city that the citizens need to be consulted.
I would like to be known for my compassion, empathy and commitment to the community. Lead with love.
Former 3rd District City Council Representative Chris Hilbert. The Sierra Club. Amy Wentz, Community Organizer. Grady Hart, community member. Concerned Citizens RVA.
