Maria Elena Talamantes was an at-large member of the El Monte Union High School District board of trustees. She was appointed to the board in 2012, and she served until December 2017 as she did not file to run for another term in the general election on November 7, 2017.

Biograpghy

Talamantes worked as a special education teacher in the Baldwin Park Unified School District. Before becoming a teacher, Talamantes spent nine years as an auditor for the Teamsters Union.[1]

On November 5, 2013, Maria Elena Talamantes, Esthela Torres De Siegrist, and Ricardo Padilla defeated two challenging candidates for three seats on the El Monte Union High School District Board of Education.[2]

Funding

At the time of this election, the Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk did not publish school board candidate campaign finance reports online. Ballotpedia staffers requested this information, but the only free method of viewing the files was at their office.[3]
