Maria I. Barton

Maria I. Barton is a district court judge for the 89th District Court in Michigan.[1] She was elected to the court in the November 2008 election and sworn into office on December 19, 2008.[2] On November 4, 2014, Barton was re-elected unopposed for another six-year term commencing on January 1, 2015, and expiring on December 31, 2020.[3]

Education
Barton received her undergraduate degree from Ohio University and her J.D. degree from the University of Toledo.[4]
Career
Immediately prior to her election to the 89th District Court, Barton served as an assistant prosecutor in six local counties: Chippewa, Mackinac, Cheboygan, Otsego, Emmet, and Charlevoix. She also previously served as a special prosecutor for SANE (Straits Area Narcotics Enforcement team), a drug task force.[5]
