Maria Sachs
Maria Lorts Sachs (b. March 25, 1949) is a former Democratic member of the Florida State Senate, representing District 34 from 2010 to 2016.
Sachs did not seek re-election to the Florida State Senate in 2016.
Sachs served in the Florida House of Representatives, representing District 86 from 2006 to 2010.
Biography
Sachs' professional experience includes working as an associate professor at the University of Maryland.[1]

Elections for the Florida State Senate took place in 2014. A primary election took place on August 26, 2014. The general election was held on November 4, 2014. The signature filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in this election was June 20, 2014. Incumbent Maria Sachs was unopposed in the Democratic primary, while Ellyn Bogdanoff was unopposed in the Republican primary. Sachs defeated Bogdanoff in the general election. Joseph "JB" Bensmihen (R) withdrew from the race on June 26, 2014.[3][4][5]

Sachs won re-election in the 2012 election for Florida State Senate District 34. Sachs defeated Martin David Kiar in the Democratic primary on August 14, 2012, and defeated incumbent Ellyn Bogdanoff (R) in the general election, which took place on November 6, 2012.[6][7]
2010

Sachs won election to the District 30 seat of the Florida State Senate in 2010. She did not have any opposition in the August 24 primary or in the general election on November 2, 2010.[8]
2008
On November 4, 2008, Sachs won re-election to the Florida House of Representatives from Florida's 86th District, defeating John Sottilare (NPA). Sachs received 47,323 votes in the election while Sottilare received 10,390 votes.[9] Sachs raised $63,767 for her campaign; Sottilare raised $4,375.[10]
