Biography

Marie Exantus was born in New York, New York. Exantus earned an associate degree from Florida College of Natural Health-Miami in 2004. Who are you? Tell us about yourself.

I seek an Executive Administrative position where I can utilize my experience and dynamic skills to maximize the profit of the company. My leadership qualities can help in managing the work efficiently. A keen sense of responsibility will hone in on the goals of the organization. Strategic and ethical with Small Businesses and Startups. Creates driven development proposals with an attention to detail. Conducts market research, identifies and engages online publishers via Social Media outlets. An entrepreneurial spirit which promotes the positive aspects of corporate social responsibility and sustainability.

Please list below 3 key messages of your campaign. What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office?

• Raise Minimum Wage to $25.00/Train and expand workforce in building manufacturing hubs (Aerospace, semiconductors and eVTOL)
• Bailout all small businesses (including tax breaks/grant programs)
• Build Neighborhood and Law Enforcement relations with increase 2A Gun Safety Programs

What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?

Animal Welfare, Arts and Culture, Children, Civil Rights and Social Action, Disaster and Humanitarian Relief, Economic Empowerment, Education, Environment, Health, Human Rights, Politics, Poverty Alleviation, Science and Technology, Social Services, and Veteran Support

Who do you look up to? Whose example would you like to follow, and why?

Too many to list, but off the top of my head Dr. Cornell West, Dalai Lama, Barbara Ehrenreich, A Tribe Called Quest, Octavia E. Butler, Carl Sagan, Noam Chomsky and others. They are or were true spirits in their extraordinary linguistic and personal styles.

Is there a book, essay, film, or something else you would recommend to someone who wants to understand your political philosophy?

Any speeches from Malcolm X during his time as a leader for the Nation of Islam.

I also love to watch clips of 'Glengarry Glen Ross', 'Bronx Tale', 'New Jack City', 'Juice' and 'Boiler Room'. Those movies have a keen sense of how cultural and racial dynamics, corporate and political corruption can affect it's city residents.

What characteristics or principles are most important for an elected official?

Having a sense of humor, emotional intelligence and humility.

What qualities do you possess that you believe would make you a successful officeholder?

Caring, but Blunt.

What do you believe are the core responsibilities for someone elected to this office?

Flexible, intuitive and brutally honest.

What legacy would you like to leave?

Installing term limits and accomplishing everything off my platform.

What is the first historical event that happened in your lifetime that you remember? How old were you at the time?

Early memories of watching the Iran hostage crisis on TV in 1979.

What was your very first job? How long did you have it?

Worked at the flea market on the weekends selling electronics for two years.

What is your favorite book? Why?

"The Autobiography of Malcolm X' by Alex Haley. Well written timeline of one the greatest Black American leaders.

If you could be any fictional character, who would you want to be?

Wonder Woman, Foxy Brown

What was the last song that got stuck in your head?

Interpol - "Memory Serves"

What is something that has been a struggle in your life?

Self doubt and emotional hiccups.

A mayor is a leader in his or her city. What does that mean to you?

Having an ability to effectively communicate with their constituents. Also being approachable and not take their voters for granted.

Mayors have many responsibilities, which vary from city to city. Which of those do you personally consider the most important in your city?

Urban renewal programs to improve the residents quality of life.

If the mayor in your city is a member of the city council and there's a city manager appointed to handle the day-to-day administration of the city government, what do you believe should be the mayor's top priority in office?

Ensuring there's an oversight process of all dealings throughout city hall.

If the mayor in your city is not a member of the city council and oversees the day-to-day administration of the city government, what do you believe is the ideal relationship between the mayor and city council?

There must be an understanding of having respect for one another. An established culture of the highest level of work ethic, open room or door policy to address policy or unforeseen challenges that may arise.

What do you love most about your city?

It's always been a vibrant and exciting town. Everything.

What do you perceive to be your city's greatest challenges over the next decade?

Climate Change

Having cordial and working protocols are vital. Since we experience weather related storms and public health emergencies. Coordinate efforts to handle a crisis, budget concerns or l

What do you believe is the ideal relationship between your city and the federal government?

Just like I mentioned prior with State, also Federal must also have in place protocols. Whether you're coordinating with FEMA, FBI, NSA, etc. on a myriad of issues. Having a priority to keep our residents informed through any circumstance faced. The Federal, State and City governments all work in unison to accomplish the goals at hand.

What do you believe is the ideal relationship between the mayor's office and law enforcement?

The Mayor. City Police and Fire Rescue will take a multifaceted to tackle 21st century problems. Addressing the very nature of what the role of law enforcement in our community should be. Tough talk, with the opportunity to voice opinions (popular or not) and implement policy to keep our residents safe.
