Conviction for perjury, false mortgage application (2022-2024)
On January 13, 2022, Mosby was indicted by a federal grand jury on two charges of perjury and two charges of creating falsified mortgage applications for Florida vacation homes.[1] The complaint alleged that Mosby falsely confirmed her eligibility for Coronavirus-Related Distribution Requests and failed to disclose her liabilities on applications for two Florida properties.[1]
On February 4, 2022, Mosby pleaded not guilty to the charges.[2]
Mosby requested that the charges against her be dismissed. On April 11, 2022, U.S. District Judge Lydia Kay Griggsby dismissed her request. Judge Griggsby set Mosby's trial date for September 19, 2022.[3] The trial was later rescheduled to begin on March 27, 2023.[4]
Mosby was found guilty on both counts of perjury on November 9, 2023.[5]
On February 6, 2024, Mosby was convicted on one federal charge of making a false mortgage application while serving as Baltimore State's Attorney. She was acquitted of making a false mortgage application in relation to the purchase of a vacation home in Kissimmee, Florida[6]
On May 23, 2024, Mosby was sentenced to twelve months of home confinement, one-hundred hours of community service, and three years of supervised release. Mosby's lawyers said they would appeal her conviction and sentence while they seek a presidential pardon.[7]
