Marilyn Slaby is a former Republican member of the Ohio House of Representatives, representing District 38. Slaby was first appointed to the chamber in April 2012. She replaced her husband, Lynn Slaby (R), who left to join the Ohio Public Utilities Commission.[1] Slaby filed for re-election in 2018, but withdrew her candidacy in February 2018.[2]

Slaby previously represented District 41 in the House in 2004.[3][1] In 2012, she was redistricted into the 38th Ohio House district and won her first full term.[4]

Biography

Slaby earned her B.S. in education from Heidelberg College. Her professional experience includes working as a teacher, as an administrative assistant at the Summit County Board of Elections, and as the owner of two small businesses.[5]

Elections for the Ohio House of Representatives took place in 2014. A primary election took place on May 6, 2014. The general election was held on November 4, 2014. The signature filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in this election was February 5, 2014. Tim Crawford was unopposed in the Democratic primary, while incumbent Lynn Slaby was unopposed in the Republican primary. Slaby was appointed as the Ohio Public Utilities Commission by Ohio Governor John Kasich shortly after the primary. His seat was filled by his wife, Marilyn Slaby, who defeated Crawford in the general election.[9]
