A Marin County Service Area #13 Paramedic Services special tax, Measure J ballot proposition was on the November 2, 2010 ballot for voters in the Marin County Service Area 13 Paramedic Service District in Marin County. It was defeated.
Measure J, if it had been approved, could have increased the annual parcel tax paid for the paramedic services in Service Area 13 by up to $23/year for residences and up to $0.03 per square foot for non-residential parcels.[1]
A two-thirds (66.67%) vote was required for approval.

Opposition
Ron Marinoff, a former Marinwood volunteer firefighter, opposed Measure J. He questioned the practice of paying firefighter salaries using money for paramedic services. Marinoff said, "They're doing something that's legal, but as far as I'm concerned borders on the immoral. They're using paramedic tax to pay the salaries of firefighters. They should use the paramedic tax to only pay the difference between firefighter pay and paramedic pay."[2]

The question on the ballot:
| Measure J: Paramedic Services Special Tax. To protect lifesaving paramedic services by maintaining rapid response times, providing advanced heart attack treatment, and keeping trained paramedics on fire engine companies, shall Ordinance No.3545 be approved to increase up to $23.00 annually the current rate on residential units, and up to $.0.03 per square foot annually the current rate on non-residential structures; and shall the County of Marin’s appropriation limit be correspondingly increased?[3] |
