Maris Blair is a Texas lawyer with over 18 years of legal, governmental and business experience. She also serves as the Executive Director of the Conroe ISD Education Foundation. Maris' previous professional career includes five years as a school teacher. She was active in NHRA auto racing and is a trained classical pianist. Maris Blair is well-rounded, well-educated, and never does anything halfway.

Maris Blair is deeply rooted in Montgomery County. She knows the pulse of her community. She championed the successful 2021 campaign to save The Woodlands Township from incorporation, leading the fight against bigger government and higher taxes. Maris worked just as hard to pass fiscally responsible Conroe ISD Bond Issues providing the exponentially growing student population with modernized schools. Maris Blair is the only candidate in the race who took on these positions for the community. A conservative Christian and a Native Texan, Maris Blair will “truly represent the people”.

Maris Blair and her husband reside in The Woodlands, are active members of The Woodlands First Baptist Church, and enjoy golf, pets, and Maris' gourmet cooking. Maris Blair’s Education degree is from University of North Texas, and her law degree is from Texas Wesleyan School of Law.

  • When I am elected State Representative, I will truly represent the people, families and businesses of the District, and not a small special interest PAC. The people of District 15 have historically chosen conservative representatives to be their legislators. No one in this race is more conservative me. I stand strong against higher taxes and bigger government, as in my efforts in the 2021 fight against incorporation of The Woodlands Township, where I was joined by nearly 70% of voters. My passion for the well-being and future of the great state of Texas are genuinely inborn as it is my home state. I am the only Native Texan in the race.
  • I am known as a conservative consensus builder, and a dedicated Christian. I hold close to heart my faith, my family, my community, and the great State of Texas. These values will guide me as a legislator in treating others with respect while standing firm for my District. My natural process to achieve goals for my community is by influencing and encouraging people of different opinions to work together in partnership. I will listen to and work with my community, fellow legislators, and our Governor to reach goals, instead of battling my fellow Republicans on every level.
  • A former teacher and current education advocate, my experience equips me to support Texas public education for our children. I believe in traditional methods of teaching to achieve excellence for all students. I also support parental choice of various forms of education for their own children. As an 18-year attorney with constant exposure to legal and governmental issues, my training will be invaluable in making sure Texas laws serve Texans and not the government.
Border Security, Public Education, Election Integrity, opposing bigger government and higher taxes. Superior law enforcement for our families and businesses is essential. The Texas border catastrophe must continue to be a focus of our state government, especially with federal government inaction. The border emergency inflames human trafficking, violent crime, illegal gun possession, illegal immigration, voter fraud, fuels the deadly drug crisis, and stresses our law enforcement and healthcare and educational systems.

As a former educator and current education proponent, I believe Texas government's job is to adequately fund public education.

Texans deserve an election system they can trust to reflect their constitutional rights and choices.

I am a follower of Jesus Christ, and my Christian beliefs are the most important guide to my life. I try to be Christlike in my values, beliefs, and treatment of others.
The historical event I remember most well is the bombings on September 11, 2001, which we will never forget. I was 30 years old.
The Bible, because it guides my life and values.
The Governor is the top executive of our State, and elected by a majority of the people. Texans expect their elected officials to work together in partnership to reach goals that benefit the state and its people. The legislative and executive branches should work in partnership. I will work with the Governor and with my fellow legislators to reach consensus.
The border catastrophe in South Texas is a major cause of so many other crises in our state. Securing our border must continue to be a focus of our state government, especially when our federal government fails in its duty. The border emergency inflames human trafficking, violent crime, illegal gun possession, illegal immigration, voter fraud, and it stresses our law enforcement and healthcare and educational systems. It is the source of our deadly illegal drug crisis. All of these issues are growing challenges that must be addressed.
I believe checks and balances are best achieved by the bicameral legislature such as Texas currently utilizes.
Previous experience is beneficial for a legislator but only if the person elected uses that experience to widen their perspectives, and not as an excuse to close their minds. In addition, "experience" in government and politics comes in many forms, not just incumbency or past office holding. For example, while this is my first candidacy, I have been intricately involved with many political campaigns for candidates and issues for nearly two decades. In addition, as an attorney, I have 18 years of experience in legal, governmental and business matters. I will call on that experience to help me be the best representative of my district.
I am known as a conservative consensus builder. I believe in partnering with others of like and different opinions to better our community and state. In the legislature, I will communicate with my constituents and listen to their issues, work with my fellow legislators to build consensus, and with Governor.
Due to my abilities and experience as a former school teacher, I believe I would be of benefit to any education committee. As a lawyer, I am trained in law-making and how laws work, so any number of committees would be appropriate. Being from the Houston area, my outlook would be helpful in committees concerning the border, energy, medical and business issues.
I believe compromise is not the best word to describe what needs to be done in policy-making. Rather, I am a conservative consensus builder, achieving goals by influencing people of different opinions to work together, not by simply giving in. I will listen to and communicate with our communities, work with my fellow legislators, as well as our Governor, to reach goals, instead of attacking those who disagree.
