Marisa received her Bachelor’s degree in International Business and Entrepreneurial Studies from St. Mary’s University in 2003. She then received her Juris Doctor from the University of Oregon in 2007.
In 2019, Marisa was recognized as a member of the San Antonio Business Journal’s “40 Under 40”. She has also received local and statewide recognition for her legal advocacy. Marisa currently serves on the Legal Advisory Board for Catholic Charities of San Antonio, is a Board Member for the Red Cross and previously served as a Board Member for the National Center of Missing and Exploited Children Texas Regional Office. In Marisa’s free time she enjoys spending time with her family and three dogs.- An individual’s day in court is likely one of the most intimidating experiences of their lives. Therefore, I believe judges have a duty to treat anyone who comes before their court with the utmost respect.
- I have dedicated my legal career to representing some of the most vulnerable individuals in our community, helping them navigate our legal system so they can achieve better outcomes for themselves and their families. Through my years of experience and deep roots in Bexar County, I have developed an extensive knowledge of the issues our neighbors face. On the bench, I will leverage my commitment, dedication and expertise to serving the people of Bexar County.
- The greatest challenge facing our court system is how the courts will manage increased amounts of litigation and case volume due to the explosive population growth in Bexar County. The court closures during the pandemic have already created a backlog of cases, and population growth will cause greater backlogs. We need to address this issue head-on by advocating for and securing more resources for the court and by implementing efficiency measures to ensure that justice is administered swiftly and effectively.
