Marisa Hernández-Stern is a judge of the Superior Court of Los Angeles County in California. She assumed office in 2024.

Hernández-Stern won re-election for judge of the Superior Court of Los Angeles County in California outright in the primary scheduled on June 2, 2026, after the primary and general election were canceled.

She was appointed to the court on January 29, 2024 by Gavin Newsom (D) to replace Katherine Chilton.[1]

Biography

Marisa Hernández-Stern graduated from Brown University and went to UCLA law school earning her degree with a focus on Critical Race Studies and Public Interest Law and Policy. She then served as Attorney General in the California Department of Justice's Worker Rights & Fair Labor Bureau where she was the chair of the Mexican American Bar Association's Federal Judicial Externship & Scholarship Program.
