Marisa Peloquin was a 2016 Democratic candidate for District 28 of the Washington State Senate.

Campaign themes

2016

Peloquin's campaign website highlighted the following issues:

Education

I graduated from Curtis High School, am a public school parent and volunteer as the Region 10 Director in Washington’s PTA. I know how critical it is for the legislature to properly fund our schools. As our State Senator, I will make education a top priority and ensure we invest in our schools so we can lower class sizes, improve graduation rates and make sure kids get the skills they need to succeed in the future.

Fair Economy

When I grew up, my father had to work three jobs to support my family. These are challenges that many families here face. I am committed to helping all of us get ahead. As our State Senator, I will fight for equal pay for equal work, create good paying jobs in our community and eliminate unfair tax loopholes and make sure big corporations and special interests pay their fair share.

Supporting Veterans

I worked my way up through the ranks of the military and am now a Colonel in the Army Reserve. I respect our service members and will be a strong voice for military families. As our State Senator, I will invest in mental health services, housing and good paying jobs for our service members, and help veteran-owned businesses grow and succeed.[1]
