Marise James (Democratic Party) is a member of the U.S. Virgin Islands Senate, representing St. Croix. She assumed office on January 9, 2023. Her current term ends on January 4, 2027.
James (Democratic Party) ran for re-election to the U.S. Virgin Islands Senate to represent St. Croix. She won in the general election on November 5, 2024.
Biography
Marise James was born in Christiansted, St. Croix, in the U.S. Virgin Islands. James graduated from St. Joseph High School. She served as the staff judge advocate for the Virgin Islands National Guard from 2004 to 2018. James earned a B.A. in zoology from George Washington University and a J.D. from the University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law. Her career experience includes working as an attorney. Before earning her law degree, James was a teacher.[1]
