Mark R. Abel is a former federal magistrate judge of the United States District Court for the Southern District of Ohio. He was appointed to this position on May 1, 1971. He retired from the bench on January 2, 2010, but continued to serve as a recalled federal magistrate judge until March 2, 2015.[1]

Education

Judge Abel was born on July 28, 1944, in Columbus, Ohio. He received his B.A. degree from Ohio University in 1966, and his J.D. from The Ohio State University College of Law in 1969.[1]

Career

Judge Abel began his career in 1969 as a law clerk to U.S. District Judge Joseph Kinneary of the Southern District of Ohio. He served in this position until his judicial appointment in 1971. He retired from the bench on January 2, 2010, but continued to serve as a recalled federal magistrate judge until March 2, 2015.[1]
