Mark Ambrose. Veteran. Conservative. Leader. Mark's not a politician, he's just a loving Dad with a life of achievement and skills which will represent us well.

Mark is a Conservative who believes in lower taxes, less government and more freedom. He is pro-life and an ardent supporter of the 2nd amendment. And, Mark's unique life experiences make him an excellent choice to represent us in Congress. Mark is a graduate of West Point and served as a tank officer in the U.S. Army overseas and here at home. While in the Army Reserve, he served along the Mexican Border in Arizona and witnessed the violence and crime that a porous border invites which is why he is in favor of a secure southern border. Mark earned an MBA from Columbia University and has worked in banking for 24 years, also earning his designation as a Chartered Financial Analyst so he is prepared to handle these difficult economic times. And, finally, Mark earned a Master of International Affairs at Columbia's School of International and Public Affairs with a specialization in Russia and the Post-Soviet states so he is prepared to deal with our dangerous foreign relations issues from the Biden Administration.

Campaign website

Ambrose's campaign website stated the following:

Inflation and the Economy

In short, the disastrous policies of the Biden administration and the concurrence from Speaker Pelosi in the House have brought us to where we are today. The $1.9 trillion dollar stimulus passed last year was legislation which even former Treasury Secretary (and Democratic ally) Larry Summers called the ‘least responsible’ economic policy in 40 years. Now inflation soars because those policies have devalued the dollar. In addition, President Biden’s willingness to capitulate to the progressive wing of his Party pushed him to lead an assault on the oil and gas industry, reducing our energy independence and creating soaring prices from decreased supply. While a lone Congressman is limited in their abilities to alter Executive Orders or influence the Executive Branch – we must remember that the House of Representatives is the appropriation arm of the legislature. As such, combating many progressive policies is possible if the will is there in the House to control the purse strings. We must not fund President Biden’s priorities until he begins to negotiate on issues important to hardworking American families all over our nation.

Southern Border

Mark is the only candidate who has been to the southern border and seen, first-hand, the devastation of human trafficking and drug smuggling. Mark served in Douglas, Arizona in the U.S. Army Reserve. He was able to personally witness what an open-border policy, like the Pelosi/Biden agenda, can do to our country. Mark stands for strong borders, strong penalties for illegal immigration, and strong support for anyone who wishes to enter our country legally and follows the rules and guidelines for entry.

Election Integrity

Mark believes that whenever any segment of the population has a real concern regarding election integrity, strong measures should be taken to restore confidence in our election system. Those measures may take the form of a forensic audit, a recount of ballots, or state legislation to restrict some of the unilateral actions taken by SoS Benson in 2020 (such as sending unsolicited absentee ballots). Those concerns regarding our elections must be addressed. What is essential is that Americans’ confidence in our election be restored.

Mark supports Secure MI Vote which includes voter ID and ending no excuse absentee voting.

2nd Amendment/Gun Control and Crime

Let’s be clear – while many may consider this the same thing – Mark does not. Mark is a strong supporter of the 2ndAmendment and believes anyone who is legally able to do so, should have the ability to legally purchase a gun when they see fit.

For those concerned about crime and greater gun control – what is important is that we have greater emphasis and support enforcing the laws already on the books and cleaning up the loopholes. A few specific questions and statements to think on:

NICS is the National Instant Criminal Background Check System. Its purpose is to stop felons and others prohibited persons from purchasing a firearm. Any attempt to purchase a firearm on their part is a felony. Yet only 1.5% of these crimes are being prosecuted. Furthermore, the NICS is not being fully utilized. It currently omits roughly 7 million people in the United States who are not allowed to own or possess a gun. Those individuals have not been uploaded into the database. In other words, if those restricted people were to attempt to buy a gun (although it would be illegal and a felony), they could do so since their information is not in the database. This is why we need Etrace – digitizing all the records from the ATF to upload in the database as soon as possible. This oversight is wrong and needs to be fixed.

Here is 1 loophole – Did you know you can have three gun-related crimes and be considered for non-violent early release in prison? This means felons caught with illegal firearms during the commission of a crime can still get out early because they did not fire the weapon. This makes no sense. Our prosecutors MUST begin to prosecute stand-alone 4-year felony firearm charges for those individuals who are caught illegally possessing a gun. We need strong prosecutors willing to protect our communities.

Abortion

Mark is pro-life. He released the following statement regarding the overturning of Roe v. Wade.

“Whether you agree or disagree with the politics of today’s historic decision, I would hope most can appreciate the wisdom and significance of returning the decision to a more local legislative body. Anytime an issue is one in which people believe so passionately, it is vital that we all have the ability to advocate for our beliefs in the State in which we choose to live.

I am pro-life. When my wife was pregnant with our children, we were able to see them in utero and watch their development from a small heartbeat into babies that moved and reacted within my wife’s womb. I believe that a fetus is a living baby, and I celebrate the decision today that will hopefully allow more babies to have a chance at life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.

That said, I understand that many people feel differently on this subject. This is why I firmly believe states should be allowed to pursue their way of life and their policies as their local communities deem right and appropriate for its citizens while abiding by the state and federal Constitution. As we see so clearly, what may be acceptable to the people of California – is clearly not to the people of Michigan. Each state should have the autonomy to decide such important policies for themselves. I would hope they would all take steps to ban abortions, but I know that certain areas of the country will not, as their citizens do not believe as I do. This is representative government at its core.

In the end, whether you agree or not, it is essential that we have separation of powers with an independent judiciary to provide a check and balance on the Constitutionality and actions of the legislative and executive branches. I believe Milton Friedman said it best, “If government is to exercise power, better in the county than in the state, better in the state than in Washington. If I do not like what my local community does…I can move to another local community. If I do not like what my state does, I can move to another. If I do not like what Washington imposes, I have few alternatives in this world of jealous nations.”

Are you a supporter of President Trump?

Mark voted for President Trump in 2016 and 2020 and was a donor to his campaign.

Mark echoes many themes which made President Trump’s policies popular when he served. When Mark speaks – he consistently advocates for a country that has lower taxes, a reduced size and scope of government, energy independence, strong borders, ending corporate welfare and reduced government spending. In short, hardworking American families should keep more of what they earn and be able to have the freedom on what and how they spend it. It is not the government’s money to dole out how they see fit. It is ours.

China

Working in the financial industry for over two decades, Mark has a unique skillset and understanding of how the value of our dollar is manipulated through the actions of other countries who may not have our best interests at heart. While Mark respects fair trade with China via private business and commerce, he is clear-eyed about China’s currency practices and the restrictive trade policies that damage American companies and unfairly benefit Chinese firms. Our relationship with China is certainly a concern. And, now with our attention turned to Russia and Ukraine – we must remain vigilant as an ally of Taiwan in order to keep China from pursuing a policy of border expansion, as well.

Russia

Mark has a Masters degree in International Affairs with a concentration on the Russian theater so he has a pretty deep understanding of the challenges we face with Russia. Mark stands with those in Ukraine and believes they need all the support they can get from the United States and our allies around the world. Vladimir Putin’s Russian border expansion should not and cannot be acceptable to those who support democracy and freedom around the world.[2]
