Campaign themes

2014

Assaad explained his reasons for running in 2014 on his campaign's Facebook page:

I am an active Grapevine and Colleyville community leader who serves on local various boards and on my church board as the treasurer. As a community leader I believe the Grapevine-Colleyville Independent School District needs to reclaim its position as one of the top districts in the DFW area and State of Texas. My wife Kim and I moved our family to Grapevine in 2002 because of the great schools and exemplary ratings of the district. Since then we have seen the need to improve our current academic standards and become more responsible with our school funding. As a parent, property owner, and local business owner, I want to ensure our district continues to attract families, protect property values, and graduate successful students and future leaders. If elected, I will serve as a resource to the community, increase parental involvement and communication, address the academic and extra-curricular needs of our students, and be a fiscally responsible steward of our community by evaluating all capacities to streamline spending.
