Mark Christie (Virginia)
Mark Christie was a member of the Virginia State Corporation Commission. He was first elected to the commission by the Virginia General Assembly in 2004 and re-elected to additional terms in 2010 and 2016.[1] He left the commission on Jan. 4, 2021, following his appointment to the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission by President Donald Trump (R).[2][3]
Biography
Christie was raised in Welch, West Virginia. He was an officer in the U.S. Margin Corps. Christie began in career as an attorney in private practice. From 1996 to 1998 he worked as chief legal counsel and director of policy for the Governor of Virginia. Additionally, Christie taught regulatory law as an adjunct professor at the University of Virginia School of Law.[4]
President Donald Trump (R) nominated Christie to the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) in July 2020. The U.S. Senate confirmed his appointment on Nov. 30, 2020. Christie was sworn in to the FERC on Jan. 4, 2021.[3]
