Crawford provided the following answers to questions from the League of Women Voters:

How do your qualifications and experience prepare you for the duties of this office?

"Trust in the Lord with all your heart," is a true reminder of what can qualify anyone to lead. I would want someone who's humble and honest; those are important to me. I was elected in 2002, for a 4-year term on the Board, so the system is familiar to me. I've been a teacher for 10 years and know the importance of education. I have a wife and 4 children, and I've grown up in Charles County.[5]
—Mark Crawford's response to Vote 411 Voter Guide questions (2014)[6]

If elected, what would be your priorities for this office?

We have 3 major responsibilities: personnel, budgets and curriculum. We need to promote awesome teachers and service personnel. We need to prove every $ spent every year, and we need to teach children what is true. We should insist on local control and reject big government directives.[5]
