My name is Mark Crosby, a lifelong Puyallup resident and community organizer who founded Cruise Puyallup, one of the region’s largest classic-car community events. I’ve spent decades bringing people together — from small businesses to local families — to celebrate our city’s history, character, and future. My roots run deep here: I believe in protecting what makes Puyallup special while improving public safety, infrastructure, and transparency at City Hall. I’m running for City Council to make sure every resident’s voice is heard and every tax dollar is spent wisely.
  • Safety First. Our first responsibility as a city is to protect our people. That means supporting our police, fire, and first responders with the tools and training they need, addressing traffic safety concerns, and ensuring that families feel secure in their homes, schools, and neighborhoods.
  • Strong Infrastructure. Puyallup’s roads, utilities, and public spaces are the backbone of our community. I will push for smart investments and maintenance — especially on long-delayed projects like Shaw Road and River Road — so our city keeps up with growth without losing its small-town feel.
  • Listening to the People. I believe the best ideas come from the community, not just from the council chambers. I’ll always be accessible, transparent, and open to dialogue — working to make local government responsive, respectful, and focused on results that benefit all residents.
I’m passionate about strengthening public safety, infrastructure, and community engagement. Safety is the foundation of a thriving city—our police, fire, and emergency services deserve the tools and training to protect others and themselves. Infrastructure is the backbone of progress, from repairing roads to maintaining utilities responsibly. I also believe in transparent local government that listens to residents, respects taxpayer dollars, and supports small businesses as partners in keeping Puyallup vibrant and strong.
The City Council is the bridge between citizens and city operations. It’s where everyday issues—traffic, safety, development, and community growth—are directly addressed. This office provides a hands-on way to improve neighborhoods, support small businesses, and strengthen trust in government. It’s unique because it’s closest to the people we serve.
I look up to my father and mother. My dad and I worked side by side in the paper mill for over 20 years on the same machine. He taught me what real work ethic, patience, and pride in a job well done look like. My mom showed me compassion and strength, always keeping our family grounded. Together, they taught me to value people, stay humble, and never forget where I come from.
Integrity, accountability, and common sense. An elected official should listen before deciding, put people before politics, and do what’s right even when it’s not popular. Honesty, respect, and consistency build trust. I believe leadership means serving others, not serving yourself—and that public service should always reflect fairness, transparency, and humility.
The core responsibility of a City Council member is to represent the people’s voice while protecting the safety, infrastructure, and quality of life of the community. That means making balanced decisions, supporting law enforcement and first responders, maintaining roads and utilities, managing budgets responsibly, and ensuring that residents’ concerns are heard and acted upon.
Many people don’t realize how much influence a City Council has on budget priorities, zoning, and partnerships with county or state agencies. Council members help shape long-term infrastructure plans, safety initiatives, and community investments that impact daily life. The position can make a real difference by keeping communication open between residents and city staff.
Experience can help, but it’s not everything. What matters most is real-world understanding, practical decision-making, and a willingness to learn. Many of the best leaders come from everyday backgrounds—they know what it’s like to live, work, and raise families here. I believe fresh perspectives and honesty often make stronger leaders than political experience alone.
Strong communication, fiscal responsibility, and community engagement skills are essential. A councilmember should know how to listen, work with diverse groups, and find common-sense solutions. Experience in business, budgeting, or project management helps too. Above all, the ability to build trust and stay grounded in the community is what makes the office effective.
The City Council is unique because it’s the closest link between residents and the decisions that shape daily life. It balances fiscal responsibility with community needs, ensuring safety, infrastructure, and growth are handled with care. This office allows citizens’ voices to be heard directly and provides a platform for collaboration between local government, businesses, and neighborhoods to build a stronger, more connected Puyallup.
