Mark J. Dinsmore is a federal magistrate judge for the United States District Court for the Southern District of Indiana. He was appointed to this position on December 17, 2010. His current term will expire on December 16, 2026.[1][2]

Education

Judge Dinsmore was born in Valparaiso, IN. He received an A.B. in economics from Wabash College in 1983. He subsequently earned his J.D. from the Toledo College of Law, where he graduated magna cum laude and was first in his class. While there, he was the lead articles editor of the University of Toledo Law Review, and was given the distinction of the Outstanding Law Graduate title.[1]

Career

Judge Dinsmore started his career as a law clerk for Judge John Daniel Tinder, who was a judge of the United States District Court for the Southern District of Indiana. He then on to practice law at the law firm of Barnes and Thornburg, LLP. There, he focused on commercial disputes and construction litigation matters. He also handled various international clients, including the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina in an international arbitration that resulted from the Dayton Accords.[1]

Military career

Prior to attending the University of Toledo Law, Judge Dinsmore served as a Captain in the United States Army. Among other places, he was stationed in the Republic of Korea.[1]
