Mark at the age of 26 was elected the Conway City Council and has served 3 terms 1989-1994. He is a lifelong resident of Conway, AR and has worked in the paint industry for over 30 years the most of which were with Sherwin-Williams store management. The last nine years he has managed his family's commercial and residential rental properties.
  • Service- a few years ago a downtown businessman emailed all 8 council members regarding blocked alleyways. Only one member responded. Conway deserves much better. Mark will be a "boots on the ground" councilmember.
  • Conservative-managing properties or paint companies you must always be mindful of meeting expectations without spending too much money. Mark will take this businesslike approach to spending taxpayer dollars
  • Experience- Mark has served three terms so he is ready on day one serving the citizens of Conway.
Safety, Streets and Planning-Mark agrees with President Reagan that "governments first responsibility is to protect its citizens". I also believe that each council member must be involved in planning. Currently, a "pocket park" is being constructed downtown between five local restaurants, forgotten in the plan is the placement of 11 dumpsters that were servicing the business. Again, Conway deserves much better.
Servant attitude- some people get elected to boards or commissions and sit in meetings and call it service. I believe that an elected official should be willing to seek out the citizens' concerns. We should be willing to walk the properties in question and try to figure out a solution that is best for all. They should treat it like a job not a position.
Conway's 1965 tornado. Mark remembers the fear in his parents and meeting his grandparents in route to checking on each other.
Mark started cutting grass when he was very young, but his first real job was at Western Sizzlin' when it first opened. He worked just summers at first then during first semester of college then followed one of the owners to Burger Shack until starting at Sherwin-Williams at age 21.
