Fowler was appointed acting Alabama Commissioner of Insurance by Gov. Kay Ivey (R) on June 16, 2022, to replace former Commissioner Jim Ridling (nonpartisan). He was appointed as the permanent officeholder on January 16, 2023.[1]

Biography

Marcus Fowler earned a bachelor’s degree in broadcast communications from Auburn University and a Master of Political Science degree from Auburn University Montgomery. Hawkins’ career experience includes working as Deputy Commissioner/Chief of Staff for the Alabama Insurance Department.[2]
