Biography

Mark Gonsalves was born in New Bedford, Massachusetts. He earned a B.S. in accounting from the University of Massachusetts, Dartmouth in 1982.[1] Gonsalves' career experience includes working as the founder of Integrity Software Resources, Inc., the vice president of sales and marketing of Adams Golf, a real estate investor, and the CEO of Hank Haney International Junior Golf Academy.[2]

  • Honoring Our FREEDOM FIRST Heritage - Without our God-given right to freedom, litlle else matters. A quarter millennia ago, it was of such importance some brave men pledged to its attainment their lives, fortunes, and sacred honor. We should do no less. Stop Mandate Madness -

Money and mandates seem to go together without much evidence that what’s mandated is effective.

No vaccine mandates and no mask mandates, especially not forced masking of school children for the entire school day.

There may be occupations, particularly in the medical field, that require a mask, just as a surgeon would wear a surgical mask. Otherwise, each of us can examine the evidence for ourselves, and make our own decisions.

The supreme goals of our free society is a fight I’ll wage every day in Congress as your Representative.
There are so many leaders who I've looked up to over the years; men and women of great courage, thought and inspiration.

That said, Ronald Reagan was a leader I truly have admired because he was President when I was old enough to be paying attention to his stately qualities of communication. With a singe sentence, he brought down the Berlin Wall, "Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall!", when it seemed that wall would stand forever. Then he comforted our nation when the crew of the Space Shuttle Challenger met with fate that day with immortal words, "We will never forget them...and 'slipped the surly bonds of earth' to 'touch the face of God."

Reagan's Statesman-Like qualities have always been an inspiration to me.
Integrity, honor, courage, leadership and humbleness to do what's right for our nation and our citizens regardless of personal consequence.
A moral compass to pursue what's right versus what might be expedient.

I believe in honor, hard work and never giving up until the mission is completed.

A lifetime of experiences from around the world to provide greater perspective on how best to preserve and protect our uniquely American Freedoms for generations to come.
To follow the Constitution, to protect our people and provide a path for future generations to enjoy "certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness."

As a member of Congress, to never forget we derive our "just powers from the concert of the governed."
If I could be known as the person who never wavered in protecting our Constitution and our Freedom, that would be a life well led.
I remember the violent anti-war protests that erupted during the 1968 Democrat National Convention in Chicago. I was 8 years old.
As a young boy, my first jobs were mowing the lawns of neighbors and having a paper route. At 13, I started working at the local 9-hole golf course, sweeping out the locker rooms, cleaning the bathrooms and doing whatever else was asked of me during my early years there!
The Bible because it contains the teachings of God and Jesus Christ. It's the guide to my faith.
The National Anthem. (Just heard it while attending a friend's daughter's graduation!)

Our national Anthem fills me with pride, hope and reverence for those who came before us.
I've been blessed with incredibly loving and encouraging parents, an amazing wife and daughter and close friends who have helped me grow, prosper and contribute.

Has there been struggles along the way? Yes, of course, the Great Recession comes to mind, but it's in the struggle that one's character is revealed and the shaping of the needed determination to persevere for those you love.
The US House of Representatives is the Legislative branch of our Federal Government. As such, among other powers, the legislative branch is tasked with making laws, declaring war, regulating interstate and foreign commerce and controlling taxing and spending policies.

Since WWII, Congress has abdicated it's responsibility of when we go to war and when we don't. This can no longer continue when the world faces nuclear-armed adversaries.

Our three branches of government, enshrined in our Constitution, provide the "checks and balances" to protect our Life, Liberty and pursuit of Happiness. Each branch must "stay in their lane" for our nation to remain free.
No, our Founding Fathers never intended our Representatives to be career politicians.

With 435 House of Representatives in Congress, it's important people from diverse backgrounds share their collective wisdom to allow the best ideas to win the day.

Term Limits would help us return the functioning of Congress back to the vision of our Founders.
The loss of our uniquely American Freedoms is number one.

As Reagan said, "Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction. We didn't pass it to our children in the bloodstream. It must be fought for, protected, and handed on for them to do the same, or one day we will spend our sunset years telling our children and our children's children what it was once like in the United States where men were free."

These freedoms are the cornerstone to our nation's exceptionalism. They are why people from the world over choose to come to America to seek a better life for themselves and their families, for future generations to come.

The ever-increasing size of government continues to erode these freedoms in the name of security. Ben Franklin summed it up well so many years ago, "Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty or Safety."

Our uncontrolled spending, mounting debt, foreign adversaries capable or Cyber and Bio warfare, nuclear destruction and the health of our citizens are all mounting challenges that occupy my thinking as well.
The committee I aspire to be part of is the Small Business Committee because of my business experience in small business makes me qualified to be effective for job creation for the people of Georgia's 7th District.

I want to see us return to Free Market Capitalism, not Crony Capitalism and that starts with small businesses (the backbone of our economic engine and opportunity creation) having more access to capital, less regulation and more favorable tax policy.

With my Accounting background, the Budget Committee is also of great interest so we can address our out of control spending and address debt-limit legislation.
The advantage of two-year terms is the voters have the opportunity to "vote out their mistakes" more quickly.

On the flip side, the nature of running for the US House of Representatives requires far too much time from the Representative to run their re-election campaign when they should be focused on the work of We The People.

First-time members of the House need to learn how to become valued legislators, but with the infringement on their time to seek re-election, this is a difficult time-management issue.

The answer is campaign finance reform and Term Limits to break this cycle which has led to Congress having a dismal 18% approval rating.
Career politicians are destroying America. Our Founding Fathers never intended elected office to become a career. We have members of Congress that have been there over 40 years. This is simply unacceptable and must end.

If elected, I will co-sponsor Term Limit legislation to put an end to career politicians.
As a resident of the northern Atlanta suburbs, I have always admired Newt Gingrich for his intellect and his "Contract with America" when our country was in desperate need of it.
Earlier this year, I spoke to a Mom who lives in Gwinnett County. As a mother of 4 young children, her two school-age children were suffering developmental and mental health issues that came from 2 years of wearing masks in their public school.

As other GA counties dropped the mask mandates, Gwinnett County Public Schools were slow to do the same, which led to moms on the school sidewalk to protest the mask mandate. I joined them. The first day, a car with a middle-schooler in the passenger seat was stopped by the crossing guard. The boy looked at me, my No Mask Mandates sign, zipped the window down, stuck his head out and said, "Thanks for fighting for me!" My response, "You're worth fighting for!" I'll never forget that child's face.

When the mask mandate was finally dropped, I thought of how that boy must have felt when he learned the news.
"How many psychiatrists does it take to change a lightbulb?"

Answer: "Only one, but the lightbulb really has to want to change!"
Compromise is possible, and oftentimes necessary, only when both sides can agree on the facts.

Without this fundamental agreement on the basic facts, policymaking is left to emotion and ideology, which leads to unintended consequences which hurt our nation and our citizens.
This provision was part of a compromise between the large and small states. Smaller states, which would be over-represented in the Senate, would concede the power to originate money bills to the House, where states with larger populations would have greater control.

The "Power of the Purse," the ability to tax and spend public money for the federal government, comes with a great obligation and responsibility to the American people.

Our House has failed us, handing our future generations an unheard of level of debt, which is a form of taxation to our children and grandchildren with their representation.

In the House, we must elevate our Debt and Spending to a national discussion to address this while it may still be possible to solve. That's priority #1.

Almost 250 years later, this sweet melody grows increasingly muffled by one overly burdensome regulation after another, executive order upon executive order, or mandate after mandate.

FREEDOM FIRST!

Without our God-given right to freedom, nothing else matters. A quarter millennia ago, it was of such importance some brave men pledged to its attainment their lives, fortunes, and sacred honor. We should do no less.

The practical application of this is to allow Americans to run their own lives.

  • No mask mandates.
  • No strong-armed tactics to force vaccination or any other medical procedure.
  • No shuttering small businesses while larger, politically connected enterprises remain open reaping a windfall from reduced competition.
  • Recognize that both freedom to assemble and freedom of religion mean government can never close a church.
  • The right to bear arms shall never be infringed.
  • Social media companies recognize freedom of speech or forfeit their Section 230 protection.
  • We’ll drive petroleum-powered vehicles if we desire, and the free market will determine if/when alternatives are viable.
  • Capitalism is the greatest economic engine the world has ever known, and we won’t sacrifice fair competition to either socialism or cronyism.[1]
  • Our private property is and will forever remain our private property and no initiative of the United Nations will ever change that.[2]

Let our government know that:

  • We’re not sheep.
  • We’re not subjects.
  • We’re citizens of a country with government of the people, by the people, and for the people.

FREEDOM FIRST!


Deflate Inflation

  • Closing the Keystone XL Pipeline, costing the US 900,000 barrels of domestic oil production per dayi
  • Throwing open (essentially) our Southern border imposing a cost on Georgia of more than $2 billion per yearii in services to illegal immigrants
  • $1,400 “stimulus” checks, even a billion-dollars-worth to prison inmates, including the Boston Marathon bomberiii
  • Vaccine mandates imposed on businesses, causing staffing shortages and/or necessitating higher wages, in industries vital to our health and the supply of goods in the marketplace.iv
  • Deficit spending, hanging by a thread of getting much worse should the Build Back Better debacle garner another vote or two.

Every time we purchase food or fuel we notice the 40-year high rate of inflated prices; 7.5 percent as of this writing. This costs the typical American household $250 per month.v Most of us don’t appreciate have $4,000 zapped from our budgets, savings, or investments in a year.

As the battle for Ukraine forges on, inflation could shift into overdrive, especially with an administration unwilling to re-institute our Trump-earned energy independence.

“Inflation is taxation without legislation,” according to Milton Friedman, Nobel Prize winning economist of decades ago.vi Quantity of money relative to output – meaning productivity — fuels inflation, Friedman taught us.

Squandering our energy independencevii combined with curbing productivity by discharging workers for refusing the COVID vaccine, and providing stimulus checks and free rent to make employment unnecessary stirs into the cocktail of inflation.

The final ingredient is government overspending. Deficits are then addressed through printing money or borrowing, each of which shrinks the value of the dollar.

Stopping or reversing the terrible policies of the Biden administration is key to taming inflation without having to face higher interest rates dictated by Federal Reserve monetary policy, or a move for wage and price controls.


Sink Socialism

If you think socialism is a worthwhile idea for America, you need to meet Morgan Zegers, especially if you’re a young person.

In college a couple of years ago, Morgan was stunned by her roommate’s wall posters of Marx, Mao, Lenin, Stalin, and Castro – murderers of about a combined 100 million people.

“She had the best of intentions for our country,” Morgan said in a recent TV interviewi. “She really believed that those values and those ideas would save the future of America.”

Morgan realized that politicians such as Bernie Sanders make strong emotional appeals for what they term “Democratic Socialism,” meaning socialist government with elected leaders. Sanders decries the high cost of health care and health insurance, as well as student debt, enticing a lot of young people. But not Morgan.

She started a group: Young American Against Socialism (YAAS)ii which “injects emotionalism” into revelations of socialism’s horrors by videotaping the stories of people who’ve fled socialistic nations for the freedom of the USA.

Socialism starts as communism lite. If you’re envisioning Denmark or Sweden, those countries rank higher on the Index of Economic Freedom than the United States.iii They’re not really socialistic countries, they are capitalist countries with welfare programs and high taxes.

Venezuela is a Democratic Socialist country. It’s duly elected leaders quickly centralized the money supply, seized power and resources without any accountability, crippled any semblance of a justice system, and unleashed rampant corruption. It’s now a dictatorial regime, presiding over an absolutely horrible crisisiv.

Do some research on “Agenda 2030,” an initiative sponsored by the United Nations and you’ll see the clear and present danger of socialism taking full effect in America.

In Congress, I’ll stand against AOC and her squad of capitalism killers because I know few in the 7th district want anything to do with a government-controlled existence. We’ll also make it true capitalism, not crony capitalism – no special favors, carve-outs, or sweetheart deals for special interests. Of importance to note, our campaign has never taken a penny from anyone or any interest who thinks they can buy my favor at your expense.


Stop Mandate Madness

It was shocking to see COVID deaths 2021 exceed those of 2020.[i] Data available a few months ago, ]from a link to a table on the CDC’s website showed an increase of 35 percent for the months of September, October and November in 2021 compared to the same period a year earlier – before any vaccine hit the market.

Strangely, that hyperlink now leads to a dead end. There are reports the CDC is withholding COVID-related data for fear of misinterpretation[ii] so maybe that’s what happened?

Moderna reported vaccine sales of $18.5 billion in 2021[iii], about two-thirds of it profit. A failed Ebola pharmaceutical, Remdesivir, was granted emergency use authorization (EUA) for treating COVID, enabling the company to charge insurers more than $3,000 for the customary five-day treatment.[iv]

Money and mandates seem to go together without much evidence that what’s mandated is effective.

Inexpensive, off-patent therapeutic agents, meanwhile, (i.e. Ivermectin, hydroxychloroquine) were blacklisted, essentially. The Doctors who advocated for these therapeutics with the support of compelling efficacy data were vilified, suppressed and censored.

Let freedom ring.

No mandates.

No vaccine mandates and no mask mandates, especially not forced masking of school children for the entire school day.

Otherwise, each of us can examine the evidence for ourselves, and make our own decisions.

That’s America.

More than six decades ago, President Eisenhower warned us,[v] “we must also be alert to the…danger that public policy could itself become the captive of a scientific technological elite.”

In his farewell address, memorable for identifying the military-industrial complex, President Eisenhower went on to state:

“It is the task of statesmanship to mold, to balance, and to integrate these and other forces, new and old, within the principles of our democratic system-ever aiming toward the supreme goals of our free society.”

The supreme goals of our free society is a fight I’ll wage every day in Congress as your Representative.


Secure Our Borders

President Ronald Reagan was not the first to say the following, his admonishment was at least the most notable:

“NO SOVEREIGN COUNTRY CAN REMAIN SOVEREIGN WITHOUT SECURE BORDERS. A COUNTRY THAT CANNOT CONTROL ITS BORDERS CANNOT CONTROL ITS DESTINY.”

As a sovereign nation, we alone, should decide who comes in and who does not.

I strongly support securing our southern border by finishing the border wall and providing Border Patrol the latest in technology to get their job done.

We must also better enforce our visa laws as this is often abused.

I stand with those who believe our sovereign nation has the right, and an obligation to create an immigration policy that can be enforced.


Reduce The National Debt

Liberals and career politicians in Congress are bankrupting our country and leaving a giant financial mess for our children and grandchildren. We need a fiscally responsible businessman such as Mark who understands the importance of cutting spending.

Too many in Congress go along with the establishment and lobbyists who spend like drunken pirates, with no regard for the ultimate long-term negative consequences which surely follow.

The United States is now running annual deficits of about $2 Trillion dollars. Our national debt has grown from $6 Trillion to more than $30 Trillion since 2000. That’s a 5-fold increase in just over 20 years. This is unsustainable.

We will soon leave to the next generation a Social Security and Medicare system headed toward bankruptcy. Entitlement and interest costs are now eating nearly 70% of our federal budget.

The Republican Party is supposed to be the party of fiscal conservatism and balanced budgets. It’s time for members of Congress to stand up for those principles and reduce our national debt.


Support Term Limits

Career politicians are destroying America. The Founding Father’s never intended elected office to become a career. We have members of Congress that have been there over 40 years. This is simply unacceptable and must end.

Improve Veteran Care

Our great men and women of the United States military have often not received the care they so deserved. We made important strides under the previous Administration and much was done to improve our treatment of our veterans.

The current Administration has turned back the clock on Veteran Care. I won’t turn my back on veterans and will take a stand and fight for improving our veteran’s care.


Fight For Life

Mark believes that all life deserves protection, including unborn babies.

He will fight to put an immediate end to the horrific late-term abortions and will make sure we defund Planned Parenthood once and for all.

Mark will fight to end the barbaric practice of abortion on demand.


Replace the IRS With The FAIRtax

The FairTax originated right here in the 7th District. While no tax plan is perfect, the FairTax will be a vast improvement to the mess we currently have in place.

Stop Crime Explosion

To the extent a member of Congress has a bully pulpit, I’ll use mine to fight crime.

Assuming Congress stays within its Constitutional boundaries, law and order within Georgia is a matter for the governor, state legislature, local prosecutors and law enforcement – with but few exceptions.

Securing our southern border would slow the flow of illegal narcotics and sex trafficking into Georgia, while also reducing the presence of violent felons entering our neighborhoods. There are various Homeland Security measures, such as e-Verify or whatever is necessary to fight bioterrorism, I support.

Former Attorney General William Barr recently explained actions his department took during his first tenure in the Justice Department, serving under President George H.W. Bush, to curb crime throughout the U.S.[1]

The crime rate in the US in 1991 was almost five times the rate it had been in 1960, according to Barr. He described a “revolving door” criminal justice environment in many major cities, which is now a lot worse.

“We used our federal laws,” Barr explained, “to incapacitate the most violent (criminals), working with the locals, but we also pushed the states to reform their systems. For 22 years from that point forward — if you look at a chart of crime in the US — it hit a stone wall in 1992 and it went down for 22 consecutive years; it was cut in half.

“It only started going up again,” Barr added, “under Obama when people started going back to the revolving door system of justice and demonizing the police.”

Washington’s role, especially anything Congress can do legislatively, is limited. My outcry against anarchy, however, will be loud and clear.

Allowing criminals to go unpunished is not a remedy for perceived disadvantage in upbringing, education, or socio-economic status. The lawlessness in some of our major cities must never be allowed to erupt in Georgia’s 7th District.

Public safety is the first obligation of government. Much of law enforcement is outside the scope of the United States Congress, but I’ll be right alongside you fighting any effort to defund police, decriminalize violent acts, or bypass prosecution.

Keeping our streets safe and our citizens protected is the first obligation of government. Even when my role in government may not be central to this critical issue, I’ll add my voice to yours in preserving and protecting our most vital freedom; living in safety.


Keep CRT Out of Schools and Out of Congress

I want our schools to educate and not indoctrinate, but there is a principle to apply that’s best explained through a sports analogy.

Imagine If Jake Matthews decided he could throw a pass better than Matt Ryan. At the snap, therefore, Jake wheeled into the backfield, snatched the ball out of Matt’s hands, and tried to locate Kyle Pitts downfield.

The likeliest outcome of such a play would be either a fumble as Matt and Jake tussle for the ball, or a sack from the defender Jake was supposed to block. That’s because Jake didn’t do his job; he was out of position.

Congress and the Executive branch are out of position routinely. The feds usurp powers well beyond the 18 our Constitution grants it. Those who contend the “necessary and proper” clause along with the commerce clause expand federal powers fail to recognize that the 10th Amendment as clarification of any ambiguity.

Let me state this more simply.

The Constitution lists 18 powers of the federal government and specifies that it can make any law tangential to those powers. The 10th amendment, ratified after adoption of the Constitution, makes it clear that any issue outside the umbrella of those 18 powers is solely within state jurisdiction.

We should be glad. Here’s why.

Your vote in the 2020 Presidential election was one of 158 million nationally, and one of about 5 million in Georgia. Your vote in the most recent Gwinnett County school board race was one in about 13 thousand (depending on the district), and about the same for Johns Creek officials.

Obviously, the fewer votes the greater the influence of each one; the more likely your call is taken or your letter answered and your voice heard.

The cornerstone of our FREEDOM FIRST! agenda is adherence to the Constitution.

Because of this, when it comes to critical race theory in our schools, the proper play is at the local school board and/or the statehouse. Perhaps I’ll see you there to lobby on behalf of education and not indoctrination – with no fumble, sack, or interception.

Build The Wall – Stop Illegal Immigration

Reduce the National Debt

The United States is running annual deficits of more than $1 Trillion dollars. Our national debt has grown from $6 Trillion to more than $22 Trillion since 2000. Almost a 4-fold increase in less than 20 years. This is unsustainable.

We will soon leave to the next generation a Social Security and Medicare system headed toward bankruptcy. Entitlement and interest costs are now eating nearly 70% of our federal budget.

The Republican Party is supposed to be the party of fiscal conservatism and balanced budgets. It’s time for members of Congress to stand up for those principles and reduce our national debt.

Defend Traditional Values & Patriotism

The extreme far-left, with the help of a willing media, are constantly attacking traditional American values like faith, family, and patriotism. I will always stand for God and Family and I’ll never “take a knee.”

End Endless Wars

We cannot remain the world’s police force. The U.S. military is deployed in more than 150 countries around the world. More than 165,000 military personnel serve outside the United States.

In the past 30 years, we have been involved in armed conflicts in Iraq, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Israel, Somalia, Bosnia, Haiti. Kosovo, Afghanistan, Libya, Uganda, Syria and Yemen.

Since the end of the Cold War, 13 additoinal nations have been added to NATO. The United States is now treaty bound to send our soldiers to war in the defense of these additonal nations. Thankfully, President Trump has finally been the President to stand up for America and is forcing other nations to begin paying their fair share.

We’ve spent trillions fighting endless wars with no clear objective, no exit strategy, no definition of victory. Since 2001, more than 6,500 Americans have lost their lives fighting the two longest wars ever waged by the United States, at a cost in excess of $1 Trillion. This must end.

Stop The Rise of Socialism

I never thought I would see the day when members of Congress advocated for socialism, but that day has come, and it must be confronted!

Capitalism has been the greatest human rights advancement in history. It’s brought millions of people out of poverty. On the other hand, socialism has been one of the greatest violations of human rights in history.

I will proudly stand up to the crazy socialists like AOC and Bernie Sanders who want to change the founding principles of the greatest nation to ever exist.

It’s time to Stop The Nonsense and that’s exactly what I’ll do as your member of Congress!
