Flener ran for election to the Kentucky Court of Appeals.
Primary: He was successful in the primary on May 20, 2014, receiving 28.6 percent of the vote. He competed against incumbent Judge Kelly Thompson and Osi Onyekwuluje.
General: He was defeated in the general election on November 4, 2014, after receiving 30.0 percent of the vote. He competed against incumbent Judge Kelly Thompson. [1][2] 

Education

Flener received his undergraduate degree from Western Kentucky University and his J.D. from the University of Kentucky College of Law.[3]

Career

Flener served as a bankruptcy trustee for the U.S. Department of Justice for the Western District of Kentucky. He has also previously worked for Legal Services and practiced with the firm of Joseph and Philip Huddleston.[3]
