Mark Hatfield
Mark Hatfield (b. July 29, 1969) is a former Republican member of the Georgia House of Representatives, representing District 177 from 2005 to 2013.
Biography
Hatfield's professional experience includes working as an Attorney at Law with Hatfield and Hatfield, PC and Assistant District Attorney in the Western Judicial Circuit from 1993-1994.
He is a member of the Association of Trial Lawyers of America, Georgia Trial Lawyers Association, Phi Beta Kappa, First United Methodist Church of Waycross, National Rifle Association, Waycross Elks Lodge Number 369 and the William Heights Elementary Parent Teacher Association.[1]

Hatfield ran in the 2012 election for Georgia State Senate District 7. Hatfield and Rodney Vickers were defeated by Tyler Harper in the Republican primary on July 31, 2012. Gene Mitchell ran unopposed in the Democratic primary. The general election took place on November 6, 2012.[2][3]

The race for the District 7 seat has heated up between Hatfield and challenger Tyler Harper over a video created on YouTube.[4] Hatfield, who is known for his sponsorship of legislation to require Barack Obama to supply his birth certificate, has significant Tea Party support and attempted with the video to tie Harper to a Bloomberg report, published February 2012, exposing "white businesses that tapped more than $1 billion in preferential federal contracts by creating minority fronts."[4]
2010
Hatfield ran for re-election to the 177th District seat in 2010. He had no opposition in the general election on November 2, 2010.[5]

2008
In 2008, Hatfield was re-elected to the Georgia House of Representatives District 177. Hatfield (R) finished with 10,113 votes while his opponent Jaki Johnson finished with 5,167 votes.[7] Johnson raised $89,552 for his campaign fund.[8]
