Campaign themes

2016

The following issues were listed on Holbrook's campaign website. For a full list of campaign themes, click here.

  • JOBS! & the Economy: Taxes and regulations are killing us. Maine’s GDP is growing too slowly and our national growth rate just plain stinks! At 1% growth in 4Q 2015 and 0.8% GDP growth in 1Q 2016, who’s coming to Maine for a nice vacation? That's the worst performance in two years. Jobs result when people and companies put money at risk in hopes of a profit.
  • National Security/Terrorism: Right now the white flag is up and the welcome mat for terrorists is out. Our navy has gone from over 500 ships, to half that. America is getting bullied and the world and our country has become a dangerous place. This has got to stop! We need to get smart and we need to get tough. We need to be less politically correct and far more pro-active.
  • Affordable Care Act - ObamaCare: This act has been a heart-breaking, abject failure. So painful and unfair to our citizens, especially the middle class and the poor. The website is still a disaster. Our government has lied to us, care is down, and rates are up across the board, which is crushing jobs and our economy.
  • Immigration: How about simply enforcing our laws? A fence works around the White House, it will work around our borders. 450,000 visitors overstay their visas every year. Let's track them and assist them to leave, as they agreed, as other countries do. I support an enhanced E-Verify program, and Kate's Law - a mandatory federal sentence for deported illegals who return to our country.
  • Veteran's Administration: There are currently 22 million military veterans, 127,000 of them Mainers. I am tired and I am sick of the way they are being treated by our government! They have done their duty to protect us and many need help. We owe them the care they deserve, the care they were promised![11]
