Mark Jones (District of Columbia)
Mark Jones is a former nonpartisan member of the District of Columbia State Board of Education representing Ward 5. Jones was first elected in 2008. He did not run for re-election in 2018.
Biography
As of November 2017, Jones was the owner and president of telecommunications and financial consulting firm M. Jones Companies. He had previously served as deputy chief of staff to Mayor Anthony Williams (D) and as deputy director of the DC Lottery under Williams and Mayor Marion Barry (D). Prior to that, Jones was a financial advisor employed at Merrill Lynch and Morgan Stanley.[1]

Jones was first elected to the board in November 2008 and took office in January 2009. He was re-elected in 2010 and 2014. He served until 2019.
