|Having enlisted in the Army at the age of 17, I attained the rank of Staff Sergeant before attending the grueling Officer Candidate School (OCS) program. I served as the Class President for my OCS class and was a Distinguished Military Graduate of the course.
In 2004 I deployed to Iraq for a year in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF) and retired in 2006 with the rank of Captain. The highlight of my military career was serving as the Unit Commander for a battery of self-propelled 155MM Howitzers.
I am a Certified Public Accountant / MBA. I own a tax practice / business consulting firm in North Carolina. I spent three years at a "Big 4" Public Accounting firm as well as working as a Corporate Controller for three years.

As the Statesman Edmund Burke stated: "The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing." ― Edmund Burke.
I don't intend to stand by and do nothing.
- Equality: The Declaration of Independence stated that "All Men are Created Equal". Despite the prominence of this statement in one of our most sacred national documents - we have NEVER in the course of US History lived up to this standard. The only thing stopping us is "us". We need to codify in our Constitution in NO UNCERTAIN terms this standard and create laws to ensure that we meet this standard going forward.
- I believe that quality, affordable Health Care is an inalienable right for EVERY American. Our Health Care system is NOT designed to heal the sick, but to pay profits to shareholders. It is immoral and should be illegal for Health Care Companies to watch Americans die for increased Corporate Profits.
- Higher Education: The only limit to how far an American can go in Education should be a person's natural aptitude and their motivation to excel. Free higher education is NOT an expense to the American people, but a source of future tax revenue. Additionally, this will create a happier and more educated society who can lead America through the 21st Century and beyond.
As voters, we tend to focus on who we want to elect as President, to fix our country. However, the President does not have the power to make the broad changes necessary to fix what's broken. ONLY Congress does. So If we want to fix our country - we have to focus on fixing Congress.
It is because of a broken, bought, and bribed Congress that we have suffered:
• A miserable failure of a healthcare system that is the most expensive and least effective in the industrialized world.
• 18 years of war in the Middle East with seemingly no strategy to win, and no plan to exit.
• A broken public education system that is incapable of preparing American children to survive in today's Global economy.
• And the list of problems goes on and on...
Until we fix Congress, we won't be able to solve ANY problems, and once we fix Congress, there will be no problems that we CAN'T solve.
Frederick was notoriously progressive for his time. He encouraged Prussian citizens to study the arts, philosophy, and enlightenment as he had. He worked for Judicial Reform so that people of non-noble birth could serve as Judges and Senior Bureaucrats.
Frederick encouraged immigrants of various nationalities and faiths to come to Prussia, and he supported complete freedom of the press and literature. Extremely progressive for a Monarch in 18th Century Europe.
However, when Prussia was threatened by its enemies, Frederick became a fierce Battlefield strategist. He reorganized the Prussian Army and was recognized as a brilliant Field Commander for his daring military tactics.
Under Frederick's leadership, Prussia became one of the great states of Europe.
The book is extremely well researched and masterfully written. Peter was both a visionary and a reformer. While he was either pretty great or pretty terrible, depending who you were in 18th Century Russia, his accomplishments are undeniable profound. He basically dragged a very repressed Russia kicking and screaming into then modern day Europe.
That is why I am running for the House - to represent "We the People". The 99%, the working families who have lost their voices throughout the last 40 years due to the evils of of Neo-Conservatism.
The Founding Fathers worked pretty hard to create a Government that recognized that its right to govern was derived by the consent of the governed! A government of the people, by the people, and for the people.
Republicans have spent most of the past 40 years trying to undo this. Because Republicans DON'T WANT a Republic where everyone is created equal. They want an Oligarchy (Semi-Dictatorship) where certain demographics (Whites, Males, Christians, and the Wealthy) have more rights than everyone else. Where the "right to govern" is NOT decided by the people in free and fair elections, but is decided by a wealthy ruling class, who is above the law. Pretty much the OPPOSITE of what the Founders were trying to create.
To this end they have created a very successful propaganda machine that has swindled some of the least educated and most vulnerable members of our society into voting against their own best interests. The propaganda has been SO effective that we now have tens of millions of US Citizens screaming in the streets and on Social Media about how the President should have unlimited power, without interference from Congress or the Courts. Once again - pretty much the OPPOSITE of what the Founders wanted to create.
Working families have had their futures stolen by Republicans, all so that a handful of Multi-Millionaires, who have more money than they can spend in 10 lifetimes, can be Billionaires.
When Reagan was elected in 1980, the National Debt was less than $1 Trillion. The Republicans cut taxes on the Wealthiest Americans by MORE than 50%, and pushed that tax burden down to working families. Then the Republicans simply started borrowing money (in ALL of our names) to pay the taxes that the wealthy were no longer paying.
The National Debt is now more than $23 Trillion. That is about $187K of tax liability for EVERY taxpayer - so $374K for a married couple. This is real money that has to be paid back.
