Mark Klappenbach is a judge of the Arkansas Court of Appeals District 5. He assumed office in 2017. His current term ends on December 31, 2028.
Klappenbach ran for re-election for judge of the Arkansas Court of Appeals District 5. He won in the general election on March 3, 2020.
Klappenbach was appointed to a four-year term as chief judge of the Arkansas Court of Appeals by Karen Baker, effective January 1, 2025.[1]
Education
Klappenbach received his bachelor's degree in accounting from Louisiana Tech University in 1981 and his J.D. from the University of Arkansas School of Law in 1984.[2]
Career
Prior to joining the court, Klappenbach served as a deputy public defender for the Arkansas Public Defender Commission. He also worked in private practice and as a certified public accountant.[3]

Klappenbach ran for the Arkansas Court of Appeals, District 5, in 2016. He faced opponents James McMenis and Job Serebrov in the election on March 1.[4] No candidate received a majority. Klappenbach and McMenis received the most votes and competed in a runoff election on November 8.
