McCall graduated from Texas A&M University, which he attended with an athletic training scholarship. He has been a teacher and an employee of TXU Communications. The emphasis of his work has been education technology.[1]

Two seats on the Bryan Independent School District Board of Trustees were up for general election on November 3, 2015. The seats of Single Member District 4 incumbent Kelli Levey and At-Large Place 7 incumbent Tommy Bosquez were up for election.[2] Bosquez filed for re-election and faced challenger Mark McCall, who won the seat. Levey did not file for re-election and two challengers sought the open seat: Jimmie Arnold and Ruthie Waller.[3] Waller was successful in securing the District 4 seat.
