McCracken ran in the 2012 election for Pennsylvania House District 74. McCracken ran unchallenged in the Democratic primary on April 24 and was defeated by Thomas Sankey (R) in the general election, which took place on November 6, 2012.[1]

McCracken is pro-life, pro-gun, and on the issue of voter I.D. laws, says "the recently passed legislation that was signed into law by Gov. Corbett goes further than necessary by requiring every voter to present ID, even if they have voted at the same precinct for many years and is known by the members of the precinct election board. A better solution would be to give the precinct Judge of Election the authority to request voter ID for any voter who appears that isn't recognized by the members of the precinct election board."[2]
