Mark Murphy (Delaware)
Mark Murphy was the Delaware Secretary of Education. Murphy was appointed secretary in April 2012 by Governor Jack Markell (D) and sworn in June 1, 2012.[1][2] He announced his intention to resign from the position in August 2015 and stepped down the following month.[3]
Biography
Prior to his appointment, Murphy served as executive director of the nonprofit Vision Network in Delaware.[4] Before joining Vision Network, Murphy was executive director of leadership development at New Leaders for New Schools.[4] Prior to his nonprofit education leadership work, Murphy was a physical education teacher, elementary teacher, assistant principal and principal.[4]
