Mark Nakashima
Mark Nakashima (Democratic Party) was a member of the Hawaii House of Representatives, representing District 1. He assumed office in 2008. He left office on July 11, 2024.
Nakashima (Democratic Party) won re-election to the Hawaii House of Representatives to represent District 1 outright in the Democratic primary on August 10, 2024, after the general election was canceled.
Nakashima died on July 11, 2024.[1]
Biography
Nakashima's professional experience included working as a UniServ Director in Hilo for the Hawaii State Teachers Association from 2005-2008 and in West Hawaii from 1998-2005, as well as a Governance Specialist for the Hawaii State Teachers Association from 1995-1998 and Legislative Specialist from 1993-1994.[2]

Elections for the Hawaii House of Representatives took place in 2014. A primary election took place on August 9, 2014. The general election was held on November 4, 2014. The signature filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in this election was June 3, 2014. Incumbent Mark M. Nakashima was unopposed in the Democratic primary and defeated Eric Drake Weinert (L) in the general election.[6][7][8]

Nakashima won re-election in the 2012 election for Hawaii House of Representatives District 1. He defeated Noralyn Bolosan Pajimola in the August 11 primary and ran unopposed in the general election, which took place on November 6, 2012.[9]

2008
On November 4, 2008, Nakashima won election to the Hawaii House of Representatives from Hawaii's 1st District, defeating Steven Offenbaker (R). Nakashima received 5,801 votes in the election while Offenbaker received 2,360 votes.[11] Nakashima raised $37,441 for his campaign; Offenbaker raised $8,116.[12]
