My name is Mark Shaffer. As your next State Senator and a Republican for District 8, please allow me to tell you a little about myself. Las Vegas has been my home since 1957, and over the years we have seen Nevada go through many changes. Some changes have been good, while others have torn our State apart. It’s time for Someone to Step up to the Plate and bring back the Values that Nevada was built on, and that is me. As your next Senator for District 8, with my Drive, Success and Passion for Nevada, it’s my Honor to Serve you, as We the People, not We the Party. In my 65 years in our Beautiful State, my fond memories are of Great Education, Low Crime, much lower Gas and Groceries, and Nevada used to be “Business Friendly”. Today, these are Hot Issues. My goal in Carson City is to get these issues all under control, for all of Nevada.
  • Crime Reduction: There’s no question in my mind, that if you want to “lower anything”, you must increase and raise the other side. Crime and Protection is as simple as a teeter-totter. When one side goes up, the other goes down. We must Fund the Police with MORE. More cops on the street, more cruising the neighborhoods, more equipment, more public awareness, more pay, and more respect. We need to bring back the value of joining the force. Being a cop is a good thing. My pride and joy is my nephew, a Nevada State Detective. But our State is suffering a shortage of manpower. Yes, they are hiring! But we need to inform the public and support the men and women who serve and protect us.
  • Education Reform: It’s no secret Nevada’s education system is broken. We are last on the list for quality education. Many parents are home schooling now or if affordable, sending their kids to private school, which is now a booming business because our government has let our parents down. We need smaller classroom sizes, teacher support and decent pay, and a school system that we can be proud of in Nevada. This takes money. And the money we have, however, our current legislation isn’t spending it right. We need to hold them accountable for our classrooms and our kids. We need transparency to the public. When money earned for schools gets lost in the “General Fund”, it seems no one has an answer for it. That’s not fair to the people
  • Small Business Support: After managing, marketing and consulting over 3000 small business owners in Las Vegas, I can tell you, Small Business is the Backbone of America, and Nevada is no different. We must support the Small Business Community with everything we’ve got. Public awareness, increased exposure, more promotions, less red tape, more support, on all three levels, the City, County and State. We should also offer services to the 40% of businesses that closed or suffered during the 2020 Covid Crisis. We can help them “ReStart” with Scholarships, Grants and Low Interest Small Business Loans. We can do a whole lot more for our Small Business Leaders, but it takes a Leader, to lead others.
Our legislation in Carson City is looking at a new bill, to tax your Home Equity. It’s called the Assessment Tax Bill. Nevadans have enjoyed a healthy real estate boom for the last 50 years, and YOUR equity is YOURS! The American Dream of owning your own home and building your equity is now under fire by some of the legislatures in our Capital. This could take away the enjoyment of buying a home in Nevada. Your home went up in value, and they want a piece of it. As a licensed Real Estate representative, I do not want to see this pass. I will deny and vote down any bill that wants to tax your equity and mine too. This is unacceptable.

Meanwhile the rising cost of Gas and Groceries begins at the National level, it still effects all of us here at home, hitting our pockets on a daily basis. Any relief our State can provide for our citizens will surely be welcome. I support legislation that provides for its people during tough times and high inflation. Whether it’s temporary relief or a permanent solution, Nevada must defend the people that support our State.
God. God is good, honest, and perfect.

It is in God I find trust, courage, and strength.

My Faith is Number One. As a Christian first, and a Republican second, my values cannot be Bought or Led Astray.
A leader with strong values
Think & Grow Rich, It addresses secrets to success in both business an personal life.
