Shriver was running in the 2012 election for the U.S. House, representing Maryland's 6th District. Shriver sought the nomination on the Democratic ticket.[1] The signature filing deadline for candidates wishing to run was January 11, 2012. The primary elections were held on April 3, 2012. Shriver faces opposition on the Democratic ticket from Robert Garagiola, Milad Pooran, John Delaney, Charles Bailey, and Ron Little. Candidates David Brinkley, Robert Coblentz, Robin Ficker, Joseph Krysztoforski, Brandon Rippeon, Kathy Afzali, and Peter James are challenging incumbent Roscoe Bartlett on the Republican ticket.
