Slate received his bachelor's degree in political science from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh and his J.D. from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.[1]

After receiving his undergraduate degree, Slate was a police officer in the City of Janesville. After graduating from law school, he began practicing law.[1]

Elections
2017
Wisconsin held local judicial elections in 2017. Forty-eight circuit court seats were up for election on April 4, 2017. Three seats required primaries on February 21, 2017, with the top two vote recipients for each seat advancing to the April 4 general election. Thirty-seven seats up for election in 2017 were unopposed.[2] Incumbent Mark Slate ran unopposed in the general election for the Branch 1 seat on the Green Lake County Circuit Court.

Slate ran for election to the Green Lake County Circuit Court in 2011. He won 34% of the vote in the primary, advancing him to the general election. He defeated Jon R. Wilsnack on April 5, winning 53% of the vote.[3][4][5]
