Slotta's Facebook page highlighted the following issues:[1]

  • Excerpt: "Education in Nevada needs help. We need to change the system. Let’s start by reducing the number of administrators, especially those who’s sole contribution is in reporting, and justifying the current program, putting teachers back in the class room. We can partner with private enterprise to create charter/magnet schools. Make the schools accountable for their individual graduation rates."
  • Excerpt: "Taxes, such as the Gross Margin Tax will not only eliminate small business opportunity; it will also constrict any new business migration to our state. Ultimately it would provide less education funding, and decimate our economy. Mark will vote against any increase in the property tax cap."
  • Excerpt: "Knowledge is something Mark brings from creating partnerships with owners, architects, designers and contractors on thousands of projects which will enable him to work in a collaborative effort to resolve the tough fiscal issues that our state is facing. The next legislative session presents an opportunity to put the state on a stronger financial foundation. Mark will utilize his tenacious work ethic to foster resolutions for all of the citizens of Nevada."
