I am a true Kansas Republican. Conservative. A Christ follower. My life's experiences as a medical doctor, farmer/rancher, and oil&gas producer has me uniquely prepared to serve the people of Reno and Kingman Counties. I understand that less government creates more jobs. I understand that a small lean government that keeps taxes and buraurcacy to a bare minimum enables our private sector economy to thrive and improve the lives of all. My tag line is "God, family, true conservatism". With that in mind, all things are possible.
  • God! We are a Christian nation, State, and Counties. Our rule of law is built on Christian values. Our successes are a result of these realities.
  • Family. The traditional family is the epicenter of how our Country became great.
  • True conservatism. The private sector is the driver of a strong economy. Government must be kept small, lean, and hungry.
Agriculture and rural Kansas. My Heartland has been in decline for decades. A result of bad trade deals and undermining the world's dependance on our agricultural products. The brain drain and wealth drain are real. Through preferential tax cuts for the depopulating counties and nonrecourse government loans to farmer/rancher investment entities, we can get rural America healthy again. We must profit from our vast natural resources, not outsiders.
Jesus Christ. As a Christ follower, I strive to be Christ like. But, always fall short. That does entail trying to do unto others as you would have done unto you.
My website and Facebook page. We tell it like it is!

@steffenstatesenate
The courage to stand strong and make their beliefs unequivocally known. Pandering is a poison that is destroying our great state of Kansas.
To work diligently to promote the values they clearly defined in their campaign. This insidious nonsense of running on platitudes and then voting in a totally different manner than advertised is unethical and undermines the integrity of our democracy
That our Founding Fathers were right in envisioning successful business people step up to serve then step back out. The career politician is a destructive force.
I have worked on the farm all my life. Still do, when I'm not practicing medicine.
The Conservative Heart by Arthur C. Brooks. This book taught me how to articulate my Conservative Christian beliefs.
The Senate only has 40 members. Therefore, each vote is that much more critical. The Senate approves judges. Also, critical.
My experience in the private sector as a private practice physician, hospital owner, farmer/rancher, and O&G operator carries me way beyond sitting in endless committees. Developing the ability to process data and opportunities while on the fly, is one of the best skills a lifetime of entrepreneurship can provide.
The continued depopulation of rural Kansas. Its impact on our natural resources and economy is paramount to the success/failure of Kansas. Growth only in the population centers is fool's gold.
Berger's current committee assignments are 100% in my whealhouse (much more so than for him).

Ways and Means
Agriculture
Healthcare
Natural Resources

I have lived all those areas for decades. Which is more important than having just talked about them.
The many wonderful people have been truly inspiring. The thirst for a Conservative Republican who leads with God, family, true conservatism has been amazing. Their prayers have kept this campaign energized from the start.

Scorecards

See also: State legislative scorecards and State legislative scorecards in Kansas

A scorecard evaluates a legislator’s voting record. Its purpose is to inform voters about the legislator’s political positions. Because scorecards have varying purposes and methodologies, each report should be considered on its own merits. For example, an advocacy group’s scorecard may assess a legislator’s voting record on one issue while a state newspaper’s scorecard may evaluate the voting record in its entirety.

Ballotpedia is in the process of developing an encyclopedic list of published scorecards. Some states have a limited number of available scorecards or scorecards produced only by select groups. It is Ballotpedia’s goal to incorporate all available scorecards regardless of ideology or number.
