Mark Stoops
Mark Stoops is a former Democratic member of the Indiana State Senate, representing District 40 from 2012 to 2020.
On November 1, 2019, Stoops announced that he would not seek re-election.[1]
Biography
Senator Mark Stoops was born in Indiana. He graduated from Crown Point High School. He attended Indiana University and the University of California, Los Angeles. Stoops' career experience includes working as president of the Monroe County Board of Commissioners and president of the Monroe County Council. [2]

Stoops won election in the 2012 election for Indiana State Senate District 40. Incumbent Vi Simpson (D) ran unopposed in the May 8 Democratic primary but was selected as the official Democratic nominee for Lieutenant Governor, forcing her to withdraw from the race.[7] Stoops was named as the replacement candidate at a caucus on June 28[8] and defeated Reid Dallas (R) In the general election which took place on November 6, 2012.[9][10]
