Mark Venie
Mark Venie (born August 27, 1954) was a 2016 Democratic candidate for District 44 of the Michigan House of Representatives. He ran unsuccessfully for the same seat in 2012 and 2014.
Biography
Venie is a technical writer by trade, and the owner of Octagon Writing Group. He is a 1972 graduate of Waterford Township High School. He attended Oakland Community College and the GM-AUW Apprentice School from 1977-81.
Venie is an elder at Tri-County Christian Church, and coached AYSO soccer for 15 years.[1][2]

Elections for the Michigan House of Representatives took place in 2016. The primary election was held on August 2, 2016, and the general election was held on November 8, 2016. The candidate filing deadline was April 19, 2016.
Incumbent Jim Runestad defeated Mark Venie in the Michigan House of Representatives District 44 general election.[3]

2014
Elections for the Michigan House of Representatives took place in 2014. A primary election was held on August 5, 2014, and a general election was held on November 4, 2014. The signature filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in this election was April 22, 2014. Mark Venie was unopposed in the Democratic primary. Jim Runestad defeated Liz Fessler Smith, Dennis Garlick and Russ Tierney in the Republican primary. Runestad defeated Venie in the general election.[6][7][8][9]

2012
Venie ran in the 2012 election for Michigan House of Representatives District 44. He was defeated by Tom Crawford in the Democratic primary on August 7.[10][11]
