I am a retired U.S. Army Colonel and present Minnesota State Representative with over 30 years of public service to our nation, state, and community. My Wife Tina and I have called Washington County our home over 21 years (17 years in Stillwater and 4 in Lake Elmo) and our two daughters are in Stillwater High School.

My mother, a lifetime educator and my father, a World War Two veteran taught me the value of dedication, service, and doing things the right way. Their lessons shaped the leader I became in the military and they continue to guide me in public service today.

In the military I learned the value of working with people from all walks of life and diverse perspectives to achieve a common goal. As a Colonel, I served in complex, challenging situations, often in high-pressure environments handling what the military calls Wicked Complex issues.

My leadership style is collaborative, inclusive and results focused. I place a high value on civility in political discourse.
  • Clean water is not just an environmental issue - it's a basic necessity. In my time serving in the Minnesota Legislature I introduced and supported multiple bills safeguarding clean water for the Lake Elmo and the East Metro communities. We must continue to prioritize the protection of our water resources, ensuring that future generations inherit a county where clean, safe drinking water is the norm, not a privilege.
  • Safe roads are important for our community's vitality and economic well being. I have been a champion for infrastructure improvements, including securing funding for critical projects like the Highway 36 corridor. As Commissioner I will push for continued investment in our roads and transportation systems to ensure that they remain safe and efficient for residents , commuters, and businesses alike.
  • Accountability in government is not just a talking point for me - it's a core value. As a former U.S. Army Colonel and now a Minnesota State House Representative, I have a long record of demanding transparency and ensuring that government works for the people. I have successfully introduced bipartisan reforms to increase oversight and government efficiency, and I will continue this work at the county level. We all deserve a government that is transparent, responsive, and accountable to its citizens.
I am passionate about improving our communities and getting things done with a vision to the future.

Washington County is a special place - our natural beauty, vibrant economy, and strong communities make it one of the best places to live, work, play and thrive.

My vision is simple: to preserve and enhance the quality of life in Washington County. Whether it's supporting our local business, protecting our environment, or ensuring our children have access to excellent schools. I'll be a Commissioner who listens to you, works for you, and delivers results for our community.
My Mother, a career public school teacher who received two Crystal Apples from the Governor during her career for her steadfast and excellent teaching. She was a constant advocate for me "to be the best me I could be."
Transparent, collaborative, candid, results orientated with a focus on win/win solutions
