Martinez (Democratic Party) ran for election to the New Mexico House of Representatives to represent District 41. He lost in the Democratic primary on June 7, 2022.
Martinez was a judge of the Rio Arriba County Probate Court in New Mexico. He was defeated in his bid for election to the Rio Arriba County Magistrate Court in 2014. Since he did not seek re-election to the probate court, he stepped down when his term ended on December 31, 2014.[1]

Primary: He was defeated in the Democratic primary on June 3, 2014, receiving 22.2 percent of the vote. He competed against Alexandra C. Naranjo, Rudy Martin, and Cindy V. Fresquez.

Martinez defeated Henry J. Ochoa and Marvyn V. Jaramillo in the Democratic primary, winning 45.1% of the vote. He then ran unopposed in the general election for the Rio Arriba County Probate Court, receiving 100% of the vote to the probate court.[3]
