Marlon Polk
Marlon Polk is a judge of the Nebraska 4th District Court. His current term ends on January 7, 2027.
Polk ran for re-election for judge of the Nebraska 4th District Court. He won in the retention election on November 3, 2020.
Polk was appointed to this position by Governor Dave Heineman on March 30, 2005, becoming the state's first black district court judge.[1][2]
Biography
Education
Polk received his undergraduate degree in criminal justice from the University of Nebraska at Lincoln in 1988 and his J.D. from Creighton University School of Law in 1991.[1][3]
Career
Polk worked as a private practice lawyer Omaha, Nebraska from 1991 until he was appointed to the district court in 2005. He was a founding partner of the law firm Polk, Wickman and Washington.[1]

2012 judicial performance evaluation
Every two years, the Nebraska State Bar Association compiles responses from lawyers to evaluate judges in the state. Subjects are rated in seven categories, then a determination is made for whether the judge should be retained. The seven categories considered are: legal analysis; impartiality; attentiveness; opinions; judicial temperament and demeanor; appropriate communication; and timeliness.
