Campaign website
Tiggs’ campaign website stated the following:
“ |
Voter Education I am passionate about comprehensive voter education because an informed electorate is the cornerstone of a healthy democracy. My plan involves partnering with local organizations to directly provide voter education and resources to underserved and marginalized communities. By engaging young people early, I will foster a culture of civic participation that lasts a lifetime. I will use targeted media campaigns to disseminate vital information about elections, focusing on communities that have historically had lower voter turnout. Additionally, I will advocate for policies like same-day registration and extended voting hours, making the voting process more accessible for everyone. By ensuring that every citizen understands their voting rights and the importance of their vote, I will help increase participation and strengthen our democracy.
I am committed to enhancing election security with innovative and forward-thinking solutions. My plan includes implementing voter education programs in schools and designing a unique six to eight-digit alphanumeric code for every Washington state voter. This measure will ensure that all ballots are counted accurately, addressing past issues with mismatching signatures. I will strengthen cybersecurity measures to protect our election systems from threats, going beyond current efforts. Comprehensive training for election workers on security protocols and threat handling will ensure they are well-prepared and confident. By improving voter verification systems to prevent fraud while ensuring legitimate voters are not disenfranchised, I will build trust in the electoral process. Collaborating with social media platforms to flag and correct false information will maintain public trust and ensure accurate information prevails.
Empowering communities is at the heart of my campaign. I will create community councils to provide input on election processes and address local concerns, ensuring that every citizen's voice is heard. Unlike the current Secretary of State, I will deploy mobile voting units to make voting more accessible in underserved areas. By providing grants and resources to organizations that work to increase civic engagement and voter participation, I will support grassroots efforts to empower communities. Implementing systems for collecting feedback from voters about their experiences will allow us to continually improve the voting process. My proactive approach includes establishing one-stop service centers and digitizing state services to make them more accessible online. This will ensure that all communities have the resources and support they need to fully participate in our democracy. [2] |
