|Following his career in the Army, he started a business in the Flathead. Marquis is the President, CEO and sole owner of Integrated Security Solutions, Inc, with more than 120 employees generating more than 20M a year in revenue.
Marquis has been in Flathead for over 20 years of which he's spent working for the community in Law Enforcement as a member of the Sheriff's Posse and as a Reserve Deputy.
Marquis is not a politician, but a very successful businessman with an understanding of how to manage money, budgets, manpower, resources and finances.- The Border Crisis: The influx of illegal immigrants into our nation has transcended beyond being merely a political debate; it’s a crisis that’s affecting the very fabric of our society, stretching law enforcement resources thin and endangering the safety and well-being of our communities. It is evident right here in the Flathead Valley where we have seen illegal substances like meth, heroin, and large quantities of fentanyl being smuggled into our communities at an alarming rate. This increase in illegal drug use not only burdens our economy but also fuels a surge in criminal activities, posing a significant threat to public safety. Our borders need to be closed and the laws of this nation need to be followed to become US citizens.
- Property Taxes: Various attempts to address the property tax issues within Montana by our current legislation failed when some legislators left the session without a resolution. Areas that need attention pertain to finding alternate means of revenue to offset the increasing costs that are burdened by simple inflation. Cutting wasteful spending is a necessity within this state. The Homesteaders Act needs to be readdressed to allow our Montana retired citizens to maintain their homes and properties. We need to stop spending more than we have coming in.
- Public Safety: This element is critical to the survival of this community. The growth of this community has far exceeded the resources available to support the citizens. Our first responders are logistically short of providing the needed support for the constantly growing population. Heinous crimes have increased to include human trafficking (increased by 1,400 % since 2015) within the state of Montana. Criminals are committing crimes and being released only to continue committing crimes. The local county jail is undersized and has been for years, but nothing is being done. Illicit drugs to include fentanyl, are coming into this community creating a chain reaction of crimes from drug dealing, addicts, alcohol abuse and thefts.
I was in and retired from the US Army as a law enforcement officer understanding how to protect, serve and having integrity. After 44 years of law enforcement, I know how to keep people safe. I understand the legal system and the US Government.
Property taxes will be one of the largest challenges that the state will encounter. Recognizing
that the citizens of this state will not support sales tax, the leaders of this government will need
to work together to identify other sources of revenue to support the current programs. Current
spending is at an all time high with direct opposition from the citizens who advocate for lower
taxes. State programs forecast additional spending needs that aren't supported by incoming
revenue. Homestead residents are unable to financially sustain the property taxes for their
homes. This state will undoubtedly need to cut wasteful spending. More government revenue can be
generated with a growing economy. The government needs to get out of the way and allow
elected official represents its specific geographical area and in order to support our citizens of
this state, each legislator should collaborate with other legislators to fulfill the responsibilities
assigned to them. As referenced above, A statesman, someone who listens and serves their constituents.
