Marsha Smith (West Virginia)
Marsha Smith was a candidate for at-large representative on the Raleigh County Board of Education in West Virginia. The general election was held on May 10, 2016.[1] She lost the election.[2]
Smith twice previously ran for a seat on the board. She was defeated in the general election on May 13, 2014, and in a special election on November 4, 2014.[3][4]

Two of the five seats on the Raleigh County Schools Board of Education were up for general election on May 10, 2016. In their bids for re-election, incumbents Jack "Gordie" Roop and Richard Snuffer II defeated challengers Lewis Harvey, Amanda Crookshank Kennedy, Marsha Smith, and Russell Webb.[1][2]
Though the election was held at large, only two members from the same geographical district could be on the board during a given term. Snuffer and Smith were from District I, and Roop, Harvey, Kennedy, and Webb were from District II.[1]
