My name is Martha Holton Dimick. I’m a retired judge and prosecutor, and I’m running for Hennepin County Attorney. I am running to establish safety for all and rebuild trust in our justice system. I believe that everyone deserves safety. It shouldn’t matter where someone lives, how much money they make, or the color of their skin; everyone deserves to feel safe in their community. As the next County Attorney, I want to do what I am uniquely qualified to do: Lead an office of lawyers that focuses on effectively prosecuting violent criminals and rehabilitating low-level offenders who deserve a second chance. We don’t have to choose between safety and reform. We can do both and we will. This work is my life’s mission and I am more than prepared to serve Hennepin County as the next County Attorney.
  • We have to restore public safety. That isn’t just a political slogan to me. As a former Northside community prosecutor and a serious crimes judge, it’s my profession. As someone who lives in North Minneapolis and felt the effects of the rise in violence in my neighborhood, it’s my life. The primary focus of a county attorney in a time of record crime shouldn't be how to give criminals a break, it should be how to give our communities a break.
  • I believe that safety is the needed foundation to build a thriving, diverse, and equitable community. Through honesty, collaboration, and hard work, we can effectively change our criminal justice system into one that provides safety for all.
  • I will not accept the rise in crime and violence in recent years as inevitable. I believe that we can and will restore safety in Hennepin County because I’ve seen the impact of effective prosecution and community policing. I’m running to rebuild trust and restore effectiveness into the county attorney’s office. That is why my top priority is public safety and justice for victims of violent crime.
Community safety, reproductive rights, civil and human rights, gun violence, hate crimes, welfare and poverty
