Campaign themes

2014

Miller highlighted the following priorities on her campaign website. Detailed descriptions of Miller's priorities were found here.

Dear Citizen,

.

I urge you take a few moments to explore my priorities for serving as a Board Member of the Kern High School. The Board sets policies and approves the district budget and oversees expenditures from local, state and federal sources. The authority of the board resides with the board as a whole, and not with individual members. I understand that the Superintendent is responsible for the management and administrative functions of the district. Thus, I believe in a governance model in which the Board and Superintendent have a unity of purpose focused on learning and achievement for all students. Furthermore, I will advocate for more opportunities for students, parents and staff to give input into the process.

.

I have the highest respect for the dedication and commitment of the current administration and staff for their efforts on behalf of students. If elected, I would feel privileged to work cooperatively with the other board members and the superintendent to provide the best possible educational experience for the district students.[6]
