The signature filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in this election was June 13, 2014. Incumbent Rachel Burke and Martin G. Laferte were unopposed in the Democratic primary, while incumbent Joseph Pitre and Joshua Whitehouse were unopposed in the Republican primary. Burke, Laferte, Pitre and Whitehouse faced off in the general election.[1] Republicans Pitre and Whitehouse defeated Burke and Laferte in the general election.[2]
